Eleanor Steblyk

March 31, 1924 - August 25, 2011



It is with great sadness to announce the passing of our beloved sister and grandma Nell Steblyk of Ponoka after a short illness in the Ponoka Hospital and Care Centre. Nell was the fifth child in a family of eleven. She was raised and lived in the Climax district even after marrying Nicolas( Nick) Steblyk in 1946. A few years later they moved to Ponoka after a short stint in Red Deer and both where employed at the Riverside store until it closed. Nick went to work at the AHP (Centennial Centre) and Nell worked at Central Hardware and then Norm Nelson’s hardware until she retired. She continued to live on Riverside Drive until 2007 when she then moved into Legacy Place. Nell is survived by her daughter in law Karen; her granddaughters Amanda (Roger), Stephanie and Melissa; great granddaughter Lily; brother Stanley (Peggy) Pugh; sisters-in-law, Rose Steblyk, Helen, Amy “Joyce”, Ivy, and Georgie; cousin Viola (Hank) Jansen and many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by husband Nick in 1989 and their only child Brent in 2003; bothers Kenneth, Arnold, Donald Richard and Clifford; sisters Isabelle, Annie, and Doreen. Nell will be greatly missed by those who were near to her. The Funeral Service held at the Ponoka United Church on Wednesday, August 31 at 2 pm. Internment followed at the Forest Home Cemetery.
