Elva May Long

April 25, 2019

April 25, 1935 - April 25, 2019
Elva Long was born on April 25, 1935 in Rimbey, Alberta and grew up in the Wilmot district west of Crestomere. A welcome first child to Russ and Hannah Long and then a big sister to her beloved siblings Bryan and Audrey. She went on to become a mother herself with five children, whom she loved dearly. Elva is survived by her four children JoAnne, Tammy (Bert) Munter, William (Val), and Marie; her ten grandchildren and thirteen great- grandchildren; brother Bryan, sister Audrey Varty and their families. Elva is predeceased by her parents Russell and Johanna Long; son Rob Reynolds; and her great-grandson Rafal. She loved her family, her church (Trinity Lutheran of Ponoka), good friends, good music, the Blue Jays, and the years she spent working reception and switchboard at the Alberta Hospital Ponoka (AHP), and then at the bingo hall during her"retirement". She will be forever remembered for her sharp wit (and her sometimes sharp tongue), her incredible sense of humour, her honesty, her compassion, and loyalty. The family would like you extend a special thank-you to her grandson David Reynolds and his wife Nicole for their support over the past few years as Mom's health declined. Memorial Donations are gratefully accepted to the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 11 from 1- 4 pm. at The Scout Hall (Baden Powell Adventure Centre), Ponoka. A private Interment Service will take place at the Bismark Lutheran Cemetery at a later date. To express condolences to Elva's family, please visit www.womboldfuneralhomes.com.
