It is with great sadness, we announce the sudden passing of Ernest (DALE) Goings of Brooks, Alberta, who left us on June 6, 2023 at the age of 82 years. He was born on December 1, 1940 in Rimbey, Alberta to Glenn and Edith Goings.
Dale was a beloved husband, father, uncle, grandfather and great grandfather and friend to many.
Dale married the love of his life, Lauretta (nee Petterson) on July 18, 1964 at West Park Nazarene Chapel, Red Deer and together they raised 3 children, Deborah, Daryl and Darren. Married life started in Edmonton, where Dale worked at Purity Dairy and Gendall's Lumber before dale and Lauretta owned and operated L & D Transport. When Dale and Lauretta relocated to Lacombe, Alberta he continued trucking state-side, until he was 50 years old.
He changed his career to Real Estate Agent to assist his wife in the same profession, The Goings Gone Team. Being a School Bus Driver was rewarding, when he was out and about in the community, and a young student would recognize him and greet him with a hug.
Dale's father Glenn was a great teacher when it came to farming and anything which required construction or repairs. Therefore, Dale became a jack of all trades and was skilled enough to frame and build 2 beautiful family homes.
With his wife, Dale enjoyed camping, boating and fishing. His grandchildren enjoyed annual summer trips to Sylvan Lake Waterslides with Gramps usually beating them to the top of the next slide.
Dale was predeceased by his mother, Edith (nee Rigby), his father Glenn Goings, his sister Mary Jensen (Alver), brother Don Goings and brother-in-law Harvey McCrackin.
Dale is survived by his loving wife, Lauretta; children, Deborah Leibel (Lynn), Daryl Goings (Idalia) and Darren Goings (Lana); grandchildren, Matt (Destiny) Steven (Chyna) Torie, Jesse (Lindsey) Talesha, Tiffanie and Julianne (Carter); great-grandchildren, Kashton, Alayna, Kaleb and Roo; sister Lois McCrackin; brother Rick Goings (Gloria); sister-in-law Dorothy Goings and special nieces and nephews.
His passing is a great loss to all who knew him but his memory and legacy will live on forever.
Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
