Bingo, cards and games of any kind were a great source of entertainment for mom. She loved to get together with anyone who was up for a game of cards and a good laugh. Mom never missed a Bingo game here in town and then would venture off to Wetaskiwin to try her luck there. Mom loved to dance! After she was confined to her scooter or wheel chair, you would still see her bouncing to the music. The Drop-In Centre and Rimoka (her home for the last several years) were great places to gather with friends to enjoy the music and other events. For many years Mom & Rudy would be out camping with the family, where rain or shine they would get into a good game of cards, no matter what the game. Every household knew they should have a deck of cards handy when Mom came for a visit. Every summer the girls would take a day with Mom, have lunch and spend the afternoon at a Casino in Red Deer and guess who, would come home with more than she spent, (the L'Hirondelle gene, I guess!). Summers at the lake, with family , friends, campfires and laughter were a great source of joy for Mom. She never missed a family gathering; Christmas, Birthdays, graduations, grandchildren's concerts, She so loved being a part of everything her family was involved in. Oh, how we will all miss her beautiful smile and hugs (her wonderful Hugs and "I Love you"). Ethel was predeceased by her husband Rudolf (2004), granddaughter Kearstene Telfer, Great-grandsons Connor Kalinin and Kyle Woolsey along with all her brothers and sisters.
Interment was held at the Forest Home Cemetery, followed by a Family Memorial Service on November 22, 2022 at the Ponoka Funeral Home.
Special Thanks to Dr. Halse, Rimoka Lodge and Ponoka Care Centre for the excellent care in looking after Mom.
