Everret Glen Rentz

1922 – 2012


Glen lived life to the fullest to the end of his life. He and Alice spent many years as travelling Canadian Snow Birds and as an active member of the La Hacienda community in Apache Junction, Arizona. Glen loved to cook, sing and play his guitar, garden, play cards, and travel. He was a handyman who spent many hours helping his children with home building and renovation projects. Glen was a leader in the senior's community organizing and leading weekly "Jam Sessions", crib afternoons and Gospel concerts at the Ponoka Senior's Drop In Centre. He was a member of the Sunshine Singers, and served on the Drop in Center Board of Directors. “Glen and Friends” spent many afternoons entertaining residents at local care centers. Glen passed away after a short illness in Red Deer Regional Hospital on January 18, 2012, with his family at his side. He was predeceased by his loving wife Alice and son Garry, in 2005. Glen is lovingly remembered by Steven (Mary) Rentz of Red Deer – Robin; Greg (Andrea) Rentz - Mia, Ana, Elliot; Caroline Rentz of Powell River, BC, Catherine (Tim) Ford, Timothy Golub; Rodney (Lynn) Rentz of Ponoka, Lisa Rentz & Lesli Rentz, Angie Rentz (Alex) - Matthew & Marcus, Jason (Gabriela) Rentz - Paige, Gabriel; Audrey (Brian) Russell of Ponoka, Joshua Russell, Krystin (Bob) McHugh - Aspen, Everest, Rundle; his sister Ivy Stang of Red Deer and special friend Josie Basarsky of Ponoka and many nieces nephews and friends. A Service to celebrate Glen’s full life will be held on Monday, January 23, 2012 at 1:00 p.m.at the First Baptist Church in Ponoka. Public viewing will be at 10:00 at Ponoka Funeral Home. Glen’s family of would like to thank Dr. Lee, Carla and Carmen and other staff of Unit 22 for the wonderful care Glen received in his final days.
