Florence Mayled


1920 - 2010




Florence Mayled (nee Konkin) was born on July 18, 2920 north of Veregin, Saskatchewan and passed away on October 5, 2010 at Ponoka, Alberta at the age of 90 years. Florence attended school at the Prettyview School in Saskatchewan. After graduating from High School she left to live with her sisters in Calgary. She later moved to Ponoka and worked as a Ward Aide. She trained at the Alberta Hospital and graduated as an RN as well as PN in 1946. Flo worked in various positions including ward charge and supervisor. In December, 1948 she married Victor A. Mayled. In the early 1960s she returned to work until her retirement in 1978. Florence and Victor spent winters in Arizona as well as traveling to many parts of the world. She is lovingly remembered by her husband Victor; her daughter Susan (Ron) Laycraft and her grandchildren Matthew (Candice) and Curtis (Roxanne); as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her brothers Bill, John and Joe and her sisters Marie and Ann. A Service Of Remembrance held at the St. Mary’s Anglican Church in Ponoka on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Doreen Scott officiating. Interment followed in the Forest Home Cemetery. Memorial donations are gratefully accepted to a charity of your choice.
