Gordon Carbert, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Ponoka. Gordon is survived by his wife Mary; his children Cameron (Yvonne) of Kingston, Ontario, Beverley (Ken) of Tampa and Arlene (Greg) of Edmonton; Mary's children Myrna (Dan) of Bashaw, Jim (Judy) of Valleyview, Bryan (Rhonda) of Lacombe and Candace (Alan) of Bashaw; twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; his brother Ross (Maxine) and sisters Leslie Schweb and Muriel Hoover; and many relatives and friends. Gordon was predeceased by his wife Jean and his brother Maynard. Born in New Westminster, British Columbia, Gordon was a long time logger, cowboy, farmer and rancher prior to settling in Ponoka. He served overseas in the Canadian Forestry Corps from 1942-1946, and was proud of his military service. His greatest joy was visiting family and friends. A Service to honor the life of this much loved and respected man will be held at the Ponoka Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 14, 2012.
