Ian was born in Ponoka Feb. 5,1957 and passed away Nov. 6, 2019 in Red Deer.
Ian grew up in Ponoka and raised his children here. He was well known for his love of family, Oilers hockey and a good Scotch. Ian was a great storyteller and never lacked for an audience.
Ian loved being in the kitchen and was proud of the years he worked as a chef especially when he was able to mentor students at the high school.
Ian's love of the ocean took him to "the Island" where he lived the last 21/2 years of his life. After a 16 month battle with cancer Ian returned to Alberta to be with family, children and
grand children being his pride and joy. Ian was predeceased by his parents Scotty and Jean Nicol.
Ian is survived by his partner Christina Paquette, sons Adam Nicol Dean (Romana), Logan Nicol. Daughters Kayla Nicol, Shelby(Tyler) Sebry. Grandchildren Isabella and Nicole Dean, Aliyah and Zachary Hansen, Lukys and Charlize Sebry. His 2 older sisters Kim( Garry) Cline, Janet (Brad) Blain. He is also survived by his ex wife Deb Nicol who remained his close friend. Many nieces, nephews and close friends will feel his absence.
A celebration of life was held on Nov. 12, 2019. It was a small gathering as per Ian's wishes.
