Ida passed away on January 16, 2009 at the age of 85. Ida was born on May 3, 1923 in Hilda, Alberta to Veronica and Fredrick Dewald. In 1926 at the age of three she moved with her family to the Wetaskiwin area where she started school. In 1937 they moved to the Ponoka area. There she met a farm boy named Stanley Bragg. They were married on March 1, 1946. They had three children; Arlene, Douglas and Marvin. They farmed in the Half-Way Grove district and later in the Reo district until selling the farm in 1972 at which time they retired; first in Duncan, British Columbia and then in Ponoka. She is lovingly survived by her children Arlene Cowan (Hugh) of Ladysmith, British Columbia and Marvin Bragg (Anne) of Spruce Grove, Alberta; her grandchildren Clint Cowan (Dana) of Duncan, British Columbia, Chet Cowan (Mellisa) of Cobble Hill, British Columbia, Kimberly Downs (Danny) of Edmonton, Alberta, Jordan Bragg and Amy Dlugosz of Airdrie, Alberta; her great-grandchildren Cari, Troy, Travis and Tayden (great-grandma’s 3 “T” boys), as well as numerous relatives and friends. Ida was predeceased by her husband Stanley in 1988 and her son Douglas in 1970. A Funeral Service was held on Saturday, January 24 at 1:00 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor David Schumacher officiating. Interment followed the Funeral Service at the Forest Home Cemetery. Memorial donations in Ida’s memory are gratefully accepted to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, the Ponoka Hospital and Care Center - Auxiliary, or the Trinity Lutheran Church.
