1936 - 2010


Jacob (Jack) George Lauer passed away peacefully in his favorite chair at his home at Canyon View Place in Red Deer, Alberta on Sunday, January 24, 2010. Jack was born on June 22, 1936 in the small town of Fusiler, Saskatchewan. Jack was born a first generation Canadian, having family heritage from Germany, Russia and Argentina. Jack moved to Prince George, British Columbia in the late 1950’s and worked in the logging camps and lumber mills in the summers. He then met and married Diane Eklhome and they had their only daughter, Terry. Jack divorced a few years later and lived the rest of his days as a single man. Jack was a quiet, kind and warm hearted man that was always willing to help out others, fixing and repairing most anything he could. He also enjoyed to travel and always had many fond memories to share of his adventures. Jack loved the outdoors and finding new things, he would often be found walking around town exploring in early morning most every day. Jack also had a sweet tooth, especially for his favorite food peanut butter, and it was a very sad day when his doctor told him to cut back on his tasty treat. Jack is survived by his daughter, Terry his sister, Doris Lauer a sister-in-law, Mary Dunbar, nieces, nephews and their families, Diana and Mike Lyons, Darlene and Greg Wallace, Charlene Donaghy and Troy Bakos, Trevor and Dalene Persson, Keith and Linda Persson, as well as numerous other members of the Lauer and Sieben family. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all those lives Jack touched. Jack was predeceased by his brothers, Tommy Lauer, William Dunbar and a brother lost at birth. A memorial service for Jack will be held at EVENTIDE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 4820 - 45th Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. Cremation entrusted to Central Alberta Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta.
