John Arthur Cameron
June 15, 1941 - April 24, 2010
After a courageous but quiet battle, we announce the passing of John who is now at peace. Beginning his journey in Hardisty, Alberta he went to school, worked thirteen years on Darlene and Ed Albrecht’s family farm and traveled throughout the Sedgewick, Lougheed and Ponoka areas. While in Ponoka he met Shirley Agnes Johner (nee Boyd) and on June 11, 1987 they were married. John was sadly predeceased by his wife in 2000, his brother-in-law George Carr in 2004, his mother Esther Cameron (nee Gascoyne) in 2005 and his father Duncan Joseph Cameron in 2008. John is survived by his brother Joe Cameron and sister Elsie Carr both of Lougheed, Alberta. A very reserved and private man, who loved to go for coffee, John will be greatly missed by his family and many dear friends for his sense of humor and willingness to lend a hand. A Funeral Service will be held at the Ponoka Funeral Home on Monday, May 3, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Forest Home Cemetery. Memorial donations are gratefully accepted to the Ponoka Kinettes (Splash Pool Fund) or to a charity of your choice.
