John Louis West, born in Vancouver B.C. on April 13th, 1933, passed away in Calgary AB, on December 19th, 2023.

John's passing was preceded by that of his wife Joyce, in 2012.

John served as a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and worked in several communities in Alberta from 1951 to 1979. These included Banff, Okotoks, Calgary, Strathmore, McLennan, Red Deer and Ponoka.

Immediately after his retirement from the RCMP, John began working for the Town of Ponoka. He retired from the Town of Ponoka as Municipal Manager in 1990.

John and Joyce enjoyed the winters of their retirement years in Arizona with many of their friends. He also volunteered several years of service to The Lending Cupboard in Red Deer AB.

John is survived by his very special friend and companion Barb Martineau of Airdrie AB, sister Ann of Granthams Landing B.C., brother William (Joan) of Ladysmith B.C., sons Ken (Patty) of Cochrane AB, and Bob of Vancouver B.C., and by his grandchildren Gareth and Gordon of Calgary AB, and Jordan of Vancouver B.C., as well as several cousins, nephews and nieces in B.C.

Family will hold a Celebration of John's life at a later date. A private family interment will be held at the Alto Reste Cemetary, Red Deer AB.
