Josephine Elizabeth Bichel was born on February 25, 1916 in Denzil, Saskatchewan and passed away on January 24, 2009 at the Grey Nuns Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta. She will be sadly missed and forever loved by her sons Dennis (Patricia), Jerry and Elmer (Brenda) Bichel; and her daughter Marlene (Dennis) Herbach. She is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Robert (Tammy) Bichel, Deanna (Darren) Morrison, Ben (Julie) Bichel, Anna Bichel, Ryan Herbach and Kalin Herbach; as well as her great-granddaughters Lauren Bichel and Jillian Morrison. She is survived by her sisters Katherine Wandler and Edith Bartsch; her brother Lucas Ollenberger; her sisters-in-law Annie (John) Sperling and Clara (Alfred) St. Louis; and her brothers-in-law Pius Schurman and Ambrose (Emelia) Bichel; as well as numerous other relatives and many dear friends. Josephine was predeceased by her husband Peter Bichel; daughter and her son-in-law Elaine and Robert White; her parents Philip and Elizabeth Ollenberger; her brothers Alexander, Paul and Patrick Ollenberger; her sisters Sophie Scherr, Rosie Scheck, Annie Heilman, Margaret Heilman and Hilda Schurman; and her husband’s sister Madeline (Frank) Heidt. A Prayer Vigil was held on Thursday, January 29 at 7:00 p.m. at the St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, 5113 52nd Avenue, Ponoka. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, January 30 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Augustine’s Catholic Church with Interment following at the Forest Home Cemetery, Ponoka. Memorial donations are gratefully accepted to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta.
