After a long and courageous battle with leukemia, she was peacefully welcomed into the loving arms of her parents with her husband and children by her side. Karen was born January 8, 1948 in Balcarres, SK. After completing high school, she moved to Regina where she met and married Ronald Welder in 1966, and they were blessed with three beautiful children. Karen began her long career with BMO in Ponoka, AB and retired in Regina in 2008. She was predeceased by her parents Harvey (February 2003) and Maria "Rye" (February 2008) McConnell. Left to celebrate her life are her beloved husband Ron; children Michelle (Sheldon) Boyd, Kevin (Shannon) Welder, and Trevor (Amanda) Welder; grandchildren Ashley, Caleigh and Christopher Boyd, Madison and Kayden Welder, and Chase Welder and new baby sister on the way; as well as great grandchild Auron (son of Ashley); sisters Carol (Bryan) Jankoski, June (Bryan) Fettig, and Marlene (Rick) Lafrentz; brother Daryl (Debbie) McConnell; aunts Alice Ivey, Bobbie McConnell and Lil Smith; plus many nieces, nephews, brothers-in law, sisters-in-law, and friends. Karen was loved, respected, and adored by many people. She always gave of herself and anyone who knew her was blessed by her touch.
