Katie Hvamb
Katie (Ogilvie) Hvamb passed away peacefully on December 17, 2011 at the Ponoka Hospital and Care Center at the age of 93 years. Katie was born on February 3, 1918 at Lacombe, Alberta, the eldest and only daughter to Ruggles and Maggie Ogilvie. She attended the Wolfville School. In October of 1937 she married Asbjorn Hvamb. They resided on the family farm west of Ponoka on Dakota Road. In 1997 Katie moved into Legion Arms and in 2008 she moved into Ponoka Hospital and Care Center until her passing. Katie loved to spend time with her family and friends. She enjoyed gardening and flowers. She kept herself busy bowling, quilting, and she always loved listening to the old time music and fiddle players. She was also a long time member of the Wolfville Ladies Club. Katie will be lovingly remembered by her sons Emil (Susie) and Kenneth (Leanne); her grandchildren Kristopher (Liann), Kirk, Karla, Kelly (Steve) and Vickie (Glen); nine great-grandchildren; her brothers George, John and Hubert; as well as many other relatives and close friends. Katie was predeceased by her husband Asbjorn, her parents and her brothers Pete, Fred and William. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 22 at 1:00 p.m. at the Ponoka Funeral Home with Interment following at the Dakota Cemetery (lunch to follow at Dakota Hall).
