Kay Fleming

March 2, 1919 - March 28, 2011


Born in County Galway, Ireland, one of five sisters to Catherine & Michael McNally, Kay moved to London, England with her family in 1936. She worked as a store clerk and joined the Armed Forces in 1940 to 1945. Kay married Peter Fleming in 1945 and arrived in Canada in 1946 as a War Bride. Born to this union were their son Mike and daughter Carol. The Flemings farmed in the Bashaw area from 1947 to 1969. They then moved to Ponoka where Kay was employed at the Alberta Hospital for 10 ½ years. Kay was a member of St. Mary’s Anglican Church and did volunteer work within the Church, was an animal lover and also loved to garden. Kay was predeceased by her husband Pete in 1988; sister Pat Dixon in 2010 and sisters May, Anne & Peggy. Kay leaves to mourn her son Mike and spouse Terry of Calgary/Kenya, her daughter Carol Ronnie and spouse Rod, grandson Sheldon Ronnie and spouse Jenny, great-grandsons Brodie & Nash Ronnie, niece Maria Lentz and spouse Larry and their children & spouses and grandchildren Shelagh and spouse Jeff, Martie, Finn, Jessie & Clara; Craig and spouse Jenn; Patrick and spouse Michelle, Addison & Quinn.
