Kenneth John DeBruyn died in peace at 2:30 am on Wednesday the 24th of June at the Red Deer Regional Hospital. He is deeply missed by Judy, his family and his friends. Ken was born in Vancouver on January the 18th, 1947 but spent most of his early years in Calgary, graduating from Viscount Bennett Senior High School before heading out to have a good look at the world. After studying photography in Edmonton and homesteading with his first wife Lynnie in British Colombia (where his children were born) Ken settled in Sylvan Lake where he began a life in pursuit of the Arts. Eventually, he became co-owner of a glass etching company with his partner and wife, Judy. Together they were the recipients of several awards and exhibited work extensively across Western Canada. Ever inspired by his great love of nature and all creatures of fur, feather and fin Ken interpreted his beautiful Northern Chain Lakes environment in completely unique and often whimsical artistic creations.

He is survived by his wife Judy and Cody and Lara, his son and daughter and his good dog Otis-as well as various and sundry other "critters" and those of us who loved him for the way he lived his life.

A memorial service is to be held on the 1st of July, 2009 at 2:00 pm at 1028 Bel Aire Drive. SW Calgary. Judy asks that Memorial Donations be made to The Canadian Wildlife Federation, 350 Michael Cowpland Drive, Kanata, Ontario K2M 2WI
