Kris Pedersen


On January 2, 2012 Mr. J. Kristian (Kris) Pedersen of Ponoka, Alberta passed away at the age of 88 years. Kris will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Else, of 58 years, daughter Janne (Rod) Kneller of Calgary, son Jerry (Gitte) Pedersen of Denmark, son Eric Pedersen, and daughter Judy Pedersen both of Calgary;grandchildren Kirsten (Peter) Millung of London, England, Margo, Lisa, & Sonja Seagrave all of Calgary, Christofer & Niclas Pedersen of Denmark, Emma Pedersen of Calgary; step-grandsons Geoff (JoAnn) Kneller of Calgary and Brad (Melinda) Kneller of Edmonton;great-grandchildren Cecilia & Alexander Millung, Alyssa & Danika Kneller, and Mackenzie & Robyn Kneller. He is survived by a sister Erna (Erik) Pedersen in Denmark, sister-in-law Joan (Cyril) Primeau of Sidney, B.C. and several nieces and nephews both in Denmark and Canada. Kris was born in Ulbjerg, Denmark in 1923, and was the middle child of 5. He immigrated to Canada in 1950 to Olds, Alberta to work as a farm labourer. Kris moved to Ponoka in 1951, establishing the Silver Bakery Ltd. in 1953, which together with his wife Else, they operated for 40 years retiring in 1993. He is fondly remembered by all those who patronized the bake shop for his breads, pastries, and cinnamon buns. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, January 5, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ponoka at 2:00 p.m. Memorial donations are gratefully accepted to Trinity Lutheran Church or any charity of your choice.
