Leilah Sharpe


On April 6, 2010 Mrs. Leilah Sharpe of Ponoka passed away at the age of 85 years. She was born on December 20, 1924 in Cupar, Saskatchewan and moved to Bashaw at a very young age where she resided until joining the army in 1942. At the age of 18, after basic training, she was stationed in Calgaryuntil her discharge in 1945. Leilah married Harold Sharpe in 1946 and they lived in Calgary until moving to Ponoka in 1997. Leilah is survived by her children: Wenda (Richard) Tiessen of Ponoka, Byron (Rebecca) Sharpe of Strathmore, Collin (Cindy) Sharpe of St. Stevens, New Brunswick and Dayle (Bill) Fedoriw of Grand Forks, British Columbia; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; as well as numerous relatives. She was predeceased by her husband Harold, mother Mary (Jim) Hambling and sister Sheila (Roy) Maxwell. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 16 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ponoka Funeral Home with a reception following at the Royal Canadian Legion. The family Interment Service will take place at the Halkirk Cemetery. Memorial donations are gratefully accepted to any charity of your choice.
