Lewis Abt

It is with deep sadness, yet great joy that we announce the sudden but peaceful passing of our father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Lewis Abt, on Tuesday, November 1, 2016, at the age of 86 years. After sustaining a serious injury from a fall, he took his last breath here and his first breath there - inside of Heaven’s Gates. Thankfully, he did not pass before his daughter could get to his bedside to kiss him and hug him and tell him one last time that she loved him and would miss. him. every. day. but that, now, he must go and enjoy the Presence of his Lord and his Savior, Jesus Christ, the wonders of His heaven and the great reunion planned for him with those who had gone before. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Carol Abt, his two sons, Wayne Abt and Donald Abt, his fourteen grandchildren, his twelve great grandchildren, his brother, Edward Abt, as well as his extended family and many friends and neighbors. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Beverly Ann Abt, his parents, Florian and Margaret Abt, his brothers John and Herman Abt, his sisters, Blondina Weinkauf and Magdalena Burchnall and by two infant brothers, who passed away in Europe while fleeing the Bolshevik Revolution with their parents in 1921. A Celebration of his Life will be held on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at 1:30 pm at the Ponoka Funeral Home 5115 – 50 Avenue, Ponoka, with Pastor Jachin Mullen of Home Church, Red Deer, officiating. Lewis will be laid to rest at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery on Menaik Road at an Internment Service for family on Thursday morning. To commemorate Lewis’ compassion for those less fortunate, Memorial donations in Lewis' name may be made directly to the Home of Hope, a charitable organization meeting the needs of orphaned children and widows in Africa.
