LINDA ARILDSEN

(Lammie)

November 17, 1916 – May 25, 2012

Linda was born in Yeoford, Alberta which was always “home” in her heart. She often recalled memories of the good times and the hard times of growing up on the harsh prairies during the war years and depression. When she later married Frank Lammie she resided on a farm in the Usona district, and after his passing in 1968 she moved to Ponoka. She married Jens Arildsen and moved “out west” to another farm where she and Jens grew a large “organic” garden every summer of which her family members enjoyed the benefits of fresh produce whenever they came to visit. When Jens passed away in 1982 Linda moved back to Ponoka and lived in an apartment until she finally moved to Rimoka in 2003 where she resided until her demise. In the 95 years of her life, her family members have had the benefit of time to see what it means to have lived a simple, quiet life. Of deriving pleasure from nature, animals, the change of seasons; of being with family, living in the present and enjoying and accepting what each day brings. She is survived by her sister Martha Runte of Wetaskiwin; daughters Doreen Holt of Ponoka and Carol (Glen) Popp of Parksville, BC; grandchildren Laverne (Willy) Holt-Klimec, Leanne (Ken) Stebner, Lorna (Darin) Malmberg, Nathan (Rachel) Popp and Daniel Popp; and eight great–grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by two brothers Edward and Alfred Green; two sisters Emma Garbauske and Rosie Green; and great grand-daughter Kaylynn Malmberg. A special thanks to Dr. Bunting for many, many years of care, and to the staff at the Ponoka Health Centre for their compassionate care during her hospitalization. At her request Linda was cremated and interment will take place at a later date. A private family memorial service is being held. Floral tributes are graciously declined.
