Ronald Lloyd Birney (Lloyd) passed away peacefully at the age of 89 on August 8, 2024, after a short illness. He was born September 14, 1934, to William and Hester Birney at their homestead near Alberta Beach, Alberta.
While attending Canadian Union College in Lacombe, Alberta, he was introduced to the love of his life by his two younger sisters and shortly after was married to Gayle Idel Hanson at McBride, BC on June 30, 1957. During their 67 happy years of marriage, Lloyd and Gayle welcomed four daughters.
Lloyd had an early love for strawberries, and he realized his lifelong dream to grow strawberries as a business-first The Berry Patch near Ponoka and later Birney's Berries near Bashaw.
Lloyd is predeceased by his parents Hester and William and his two sisters, Miriam, and Pearl. He is survived by his brother Lester, his wife Gayle, their four daughters-Laurene (Glen), Ruthie (Jeff), Evie (Gordon), and Louella (Glen), twelve grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Together, we mourn his passing yet rejoice in the assurance of that glorious reunion through Jesus Christ.
