Louise Frances Selthun

(nee Wiklun)

In the early hours of Wednesday, October 18th, 2017 with much heartfelt love, we said goodbye to our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Louise Frances Selthun was born on October 13th, 1933 in Ryley, Alberta and passed away in Camrose at the age of 84 years.

Louise leaves her loving sons Norm (Sandra) of Sherwood Park and Ron (Treina) of Edmonton; grandchildren Richard, Janice, Diana, David, Jill, and Leah; and great-grandchildren Ava, Nolan, Lillian, Logan, Gwendolyn, and Kaelan.

Louise was predeceased by her husband Fred; daughter Sheila; her parents; and her sister Eloise Paradis.

She is also lovingly cherished by her two brothers Melvin Wiklun (Judy) of Lethbridge and Alvin Wiklun (Helen) of Saskatoon.

Louise and her husband, Fred had lived in Ponoka since 1977. Louise, together with Fred relocated from Ryley to Three Hills, Brooks, Mayerthorpe, Rycroft, St. Paul, Edmonton, and then Ponoka as they worked together to build a family while Fred continued with his banking career with ATB.

Louise enjoyed working as a telephone operator in Ryley while attending high school. After graduation, she worked in a general store and later as a steno with Alberta Treasury Branches. While living in Edmonton, she worked part-time as church secretary for five and one-half years and after moving to Ponoka, worked for four years as a church secretary.

She was a talented cook, baker, and seamstress. Louise enjoyed carving, silver smithing, lapidary, and weaving with her friends at the Ponoka Drop-In Centre. Her greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren baking Christmas goodies. Louise was also a long standing member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Our family would like to thank her friends from the Ponoka community and also her "Weaving Ladies" from the Ponoka Drop-In Centre for all their support and friendship given to mom in her last years.

In respecting Mom's wishes there will not be a formal funeral service. To celebrate her life a private service will be held.

Memorial donations are gratefully accepted to any charity of your choice.
