Margaret Haggerty

The family and friends of Margaret Haggerty are saddened by her passing on April 2, 2010 at the Ponoka Hospital and Care Centre. Margaret passed away peacefully at the age of 93. Margaret was born to Reg and Nora Wilson in Middleville, Ontario in 1916. Her family moved to the Coronation area in 1918, then later to Castor where she and her husband Lynne were married and farmed until 1965. In 1965 they retired to Ponoka. Margaret and Lynne were blessed with many friends. She is lovingly remembered by her daughters Myrna Ginter (John) of Sherwood Park, Alberta, Sharon Martin (Al) of Calgary, Alberta, and son Larry Haggerty (Holly) of Vauxhall, Alberta. She will also be missed by her grandchildren Pam Kasovac (Tim), Tara Minke, Crystal Arrand (Nick), Ryan Martin (Nadine), Kirk Martin, Alyson Shore (Colin), Wacey Haggerty, Tyson Haggerty (Candace), and great grandchildren Mitchell, Preston and Jordan Kasovac, Kai Martin, Hannah and Hailey Shore, Jordyn Haggerty, extended family and many friends. Margaret was predeceased by her husband Lynne on February 8, 1982 and grandson Clayton Haggerty. Margaret was loved and respected by all who knew her. She spent her life giving to others. For many years she served with the ladies of the First Baptist Church, Ponoka and volunteered for 41 years with the Ponoka Hospital and Care Centre Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, doing handwork and always extending warm hospitality. She was spirited and independent with an ongoing zest for life. Margaret’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the administration and staff at Legacy Place and Rimoka. Also, very special thanks to Doctor Carin Swartz and the absolutely great staff at the Ponoka Hospital and Care Centre for their incredible compassion and care. Thank you to all the friends and relatives who supported and visited Mom during her hospital stay. A celebration of Margaret’s life will take place on April 9th, 2010 at 12 noon at the First Baptist Church, Ponoka. If friends so desire, memorial contributions may be directed to one of the following: First Baptist Church, Ponoka - Building Fund or the Ponoka Hospital and Care Centre Auxiliary.
