Marjorie Maser


Marjorie Isabella Stretch Dewhirst Maser passed away July 13, 2008 at the age of 79 years. Marjorie was born May 20, 1929, the eldest daughter of Amy and Floyd Stretch and was raised in the Eastside District. Marjorie married Bert Dewhirst in 1947 and together they raised four children: Trina, Terry, Lane and Dale. In 1964 Marjorie began working at AHP and worked there until her retirement in 1994. Marjorie loved gardening, travel, sewing, reading, photography and swimming. She was a lifelong member of the Concord Ladies Group and also belonged to the Anglican Church Womens Group. In 1989 Marjorie and Walter Maser were married with the blessing of their children. They continued to live in Ponoka until they both moved to the Northcott Nursing Home in 2006. Marjorie was predeceased by her parents Floyd (1966) and Amy (1994) and her son Lane (1997). She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Walter. She also leaves to mourn her daughter Trina (Barney); sons Terry (Wendy) and Dale (Karen); step-children Carol and Randy Maser; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister Eleanor Jean (George); brothers Arnold (Connie) and Johnny (Margaret); as well as many nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service was held in Ponoka at St. Mary’s Anglican Church on July 19, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Brian Melbourne officiating. Memorial donations are gratefully accepted to St. Mary’s Anglican Church or the Ponoka Wheelchair Van Society.
