Nellie Scott passed away peacefully at Northcott Care Center on June 6, 2020 at the age of 87 years. Nell will be forever missed by her loving and devoted husband of 64 years, Jack: their children, Lynn (George) Croft, Paul (Barbara), Steve (Mona), grandsons Tyler (Rachel) Croft, Ryan (Brooke) Croft, Brandon Croft, Emerson Scott, Shanea (Jason) Scott, great-grandchildren Charlie, Jaxon; sisters Irene (Don) Durocher, Lanna Lyne-Bryant, Pat Lyne; numerous nieces, nephews, sisters/brothers-in-law.
Nell was born in Glade, B.C. and grew up in Quesnel, B.C. where she married Jack in 1955. In 1957 they moved to Ponoka County where they farmed for over 50 years.
Nell was known in the community for her many letters, columns, stories and poems published in various magazines and newspapers like "A Pinch of Salt" in Central Alberta Farmer. Her self-published quarterly chapbook, "Tale Spinners" ran for 13 years.
Nell enjoyed belonging to Toastmasters, writers and book groups; loved her pets, reading, cooking, gardening, dancing, and going for walks but her proudest accomplishment in life was her family.
A graveside service was held on Saturday, June 13 at the Zion Church, east of Ponoka. Donations may be made to the Zion Christian Fellowship Church.
