Our loving Mother, Noreen Dorothy Gorman (Lambert) died on March 12, 2023, at the age of 101 at Seasons Retirement Home in Ponoka, Alberta. Noreen, born February 20, 1922, was the daughter of George Norbert Lambert and Eva Anna (Daley).
Noreen was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Louis Peter Gorman, her parents, and brothers Claire and Eugene.
Noreen received her early Education in Saskatchewan, graduating from the Convent of Sion, Prince Albert in 1936. Received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Saskatchewan (St. Paul's Hospital) in Saskatoon in 1945. She was an Instructress of Nurses at the Holy Family Hospital in Prince Albert from 1945-1949 and then at the Grey Nun's Hospital in Edmonton from 1949-1951.
Noreen married Louis P. Gorman on October 1, 1951 at St. Joseph's Cathedral in Edmonton. Six children were born in this union. They moved from Edmonton to Ponoka in 1955. Noreen served on the St. Augustine Parish Council for six years, the St. Augustine School Board and the Alberta Catholic School Board for nine years.
Mom said her main accomplishments were giving birth to six wonderful children and living long enough to see the birth, growth and development of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mom will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her children Jeanette (Peter) Lynch, Dennis (Claire) Gorman, Elizabeth LaRose, Peter Gorman, Patricia (Mike) Flanagan, Irene (Gordon) Taylor, fourteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Ponoka on Monday, March 20, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Donations may be made to the St. Joseph's Seminary Edmonton Archdioceses, the St. Augustine Parish Building Fund, Ponoka Food Bank or a charity of your choice.
