August 18, 1941 - July 26, 2021
On July 26, 2021, Olga Drews Christiansen passed away peacefully at the age of 79, at the General Hospital in Ponoka, Alberta. Olga was born in flow, Poland, on August 18, 1941, to Edmund and Martha Drews.
She was the second of 4 daughters. After surviving WW2, at the age of 9, she immigrated with her family to Canada, in May 1951. Initially, they settled in the Mecca Glen area. They relocated to a farm by Crestomere where she later met her husband Carl Christiansen and they were married on November 3,1962. Together, they farmed in the Homeglen community and raised their 3 sons Garth, Neil and Hal.
Olga was hard working and loved farm life. She took pleasure in raising animals and baking the best buns and pies around! However, her greatest joys were time spent in her garden and preparing meals for her family.
She was an active community member. She supported her friends and neighbours during times of joy and sorrow with gifts of food, acts of kindness, money, words of encouragement and most importantly, constant prayers.
Olga was best known for her strong faith. She had a steadfast commitment to her church family; over the years, she was dedicated to leading Sunday School and Bible studies, enjoyed singing in choirs and faithfully attended weekly prayers. Her personal relationship with God was the core of her life.
Prior to her passing, she reminded us that her last breath on Earth would be her first breath in Heaven.
Thanks be to God.
Olga was predeceased by her parents Edmund and Martha, her sister Erika, and her son Greg. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Carl; her sons: Garth (Karen), Neil (Sherry) and Hal (Tommi); 7 grandchildren: Tiana (Jeff ), Cole (Tiffany) and Kiera (Kyle), Braeden and Annie (Bryce), Geran and Reid; her sisters Irma and Margit; and many loyal, lifelong friends.
