January 7, 1919 - November 28, 2019
Olive Margaret Moore was born in Islay, Alberta, and grew up on the family farm in Dewberry, Alberta.
Olive completed her grade school in Dewberry, and then completed her RN at the U of A in 1940. Following that, she obtained her PN at Ponoka, and commenced work at the Ponoka Mental Hospital (Alberta Hospital) in 1941.
It was there that she met Ellis Moore, and they were engaged in 1942, and married in 1943.
Ellis and Olive were married for 64 years, had two children, Ron and Betty, and during that time, she worked at the PMH, and then for 25 years at the Ponoka Medical Clinic. She loved meeting the people there and enjoyed her fellow staff members. Olive was a caring nurse by profession, and a loving Wife, Mother, and Grandmother to family and friends.
She lived in her own home up until a year ago, drove her Toyota every day, and e-mailed daily. Because of the dedicated help from FCSS, Home Care, Meals on Wheels, Larry and Shelley Sebry, Ada Moore, and many other family and friends, she was able to stay at home. In the past year, the care she received from the Northcott Care Centre allowed her to live her remaining year being cared for with love and dignity.
Olive is survived by her son Ron; grandchildren Sean (Jenna), Michael, Catherine (Tim), and Mathew (Madura); great-grandchild Madilynn; niece Lynette (Ken); nephew Sid (Linda); and son-in-law David (Peggy). She was predeceased by her parents Sidney & Margaret Websdale, brother Herbert, daughter Betty, husband Ellis, and daughter-in-law Jane.
A Funeral Service will be held at the Ponoka Funeral Home at 1 pm on Saturday, December 7, 2019. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ponoka Food Bank would be appreciated.
