MASSING, Osmar

Osmar Massing was born in the Ferrybank district on March 17th, 1924 to Olaf and Sigrid Massing.

He was a little brother for Edna (Stewart) and Signe (Scheelar).

He married Edith Malcher on June 15, 1948. For eleven years they farmed the Massing land,. where George Stewart lives today.

Six children were born to Osmar and Edith. In 1959, with their young family, they purchased the Charlie Malcher farm, east of Ponoka, in the Calumet district.

They lived and farmed there until 2007. At that time they moved to town. Rick and Miles still farm the family land. Osmar’s favourtite pastimes included time with his family, farming, curling, golf and driving. Edith and Osmar enjoyed travelling together and were members of the Sons of Norway group.

Osmar went to heaven on December 2nd, 2011

to join his parents, his sister, Signe, his sons, Murray and Gordon, and his son-in-law,Ken Grayston.

Osmar will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 63 years, L. Edith Massing, daughter, Marianne Grayston and grandchildren, Scott and Kelsie, son, Miles(Mary-Lou) Massing, granddaughter, Jill (Dallas) McDougall and great-grandaughter, Janae, grandson, Mark Massing, grandson, Craig Massing and great-grandson, Carter;

daughter, Marilyn (Allan) Hoy; son, Rick ( Brenda) Massing and granddaughters, Jenny and Emily; sister, Edna (Henry deceased) Stewart; and many nieces and nephews, and

other relatives and friends.

A funeral service was held at Trinity Lutheran Church, led by PastorTim Graff, on

Wednesday, December, 7th, 2011. He was laid to rest at Forest Home Cemetery.

He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his family and all that knew him.
