In Loving Memory ~
With great sadness, family and friends announce the sudden passing of Robert Duncan Loewen of Ponoka, Alberta.
Rob was the youngest child born to Jacob and Agnes (Goetz) Loewen of Dalmeny, Saskatchewan. Rob attended elementary and high school in Dalmeny. He partook in many sports like basketball, track and field, and unauthorized football on Sunday afternoons.
After high school, Rob did many jobs using his skillful hands to do everything from drywalling to carpentry.
In the 1980's he moved to Ponoka where he successfully completed a diploma in psychiatric nursing. He had a long career at Alberta Hospital Ponoka.
Following retirement, Rob devoted his time to people and activities he loved, his family being first and foremost. Woodworking, gardening, cooking, and working on his 1971 Dodge Challenger continued to be his spare time passions.
Left to mourn are his beloved wife, Karen Steblyk; his children and grandchildren: Sasha (Brandon) Mourits, Brooklyn, Scarlett, Sloane; Amanda (Rodger) Souveny, Lily, Owen; Melissa Steblyk; and Stephanie Steblyk (Jeff Grant); Rob's siblings: Richard (Leslie) Loewen; Sylvia Loewen-Jacobs; Deanna (Cliff) Friesen; Iris Loewen; and Hazel (Bob) Loewen-Dyson, plus numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and life long best friend, Delmer (Clare) Friesen.
A service to celebrate Rob's life will be held at the Ponoka Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 16, 2023.
Donations in Rob's memory can be made to Operation Smile Canada.
