Vera (Cook) Welz
On November 26, 2009 Vera Welz of Ponoka passed away at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary at the age of 69 years. Vera was born in Bashaw on December 13, 1939. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Judy Monds (Wayne) of Alder Flats and grandchildren Marie Monds of Stony Plain and Matthew Monds (Laura) and Marlace Vera Monds of Alder Flats; her daughter Shawna Welz of Ponoka; her step-sons Reiner Welz (Susan) and family of Calgary and Gordon Welz (Hilda) and family of Germany; her sisters Martha Holub of Westlock, Mary Rutledge of Edmonton and Esther Cook of Wetaskiwin; her brothers Ralph Cook (Donna) of Rocky Mountain House, Benny Cook (Cindy) of Olds and Edward Cook (Shirley) of Wetaskiwin; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Vera was predeceased by her husband Werner Welz; parents George and Maria Cook; sisters Barbara, Ruth and Kathy Cook and Hazel Morgan; and her brother George Cook. A Funeral Service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ponoka at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 2, 2009 with the Interment Service following at Forest Home Cemetery. Memorial donations are gratefully accepted to any charity of your choice.
