Verna Maureen Gette (Grindeland)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Verna Gette - a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and dear friend to many. She passed away peacefully in the early afternoon of February 10, 2022, after a short battle with brain cancer.
She will be sadly missed by her husband of 32 years, Garry; her son Jeff (Sheila) Lanz; her grandchildren Mathew (Daphne) and Madison (Garreth); and many extended family and friends. Verna was predeceased by her first husband, Leo Lanz; her parents, Irene and Severin Grindeland; and her sister, Shirley Grindeland.
The family would like to extend a thank-you to the staff of the Golden Leisure Lodge and the Ponoka Hospital and Care Centre for the loving and compassionate support they provided for Verna in her final months.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at St. Stephen Parish, located at 5128-53 Street in Lacombe. Following the service, our family would like to invite everyone to join us in the church hall to visit and offer condolences. Due to current COVID risks and restrictions, we are unable to serve food or beverages, and masks must be worn at all times while inside the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, STARS, or a charity of your choice.
