February 29, 1924 - February 13, 2021
Walter Burchnall was born on February 29, 1924 in Ponoka and passed away on February 13, 2021 at the age of 96 years. Walt was a pilot during WW1, after which he joined the RCAF and retired in 1969.
For a while he owned/operated a pool hall and later was head of claims for AMA for several years. Walter was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. #66, Ponoka for 46 plus years.
Walter will be lovingly remembered by his children Bob (Helen), Brian, Keith (Debbie), and Christine (Terrence); brothers Edward and Arthur; grandchildren Aaron, Haylyn, Ethan, and Nicholas; and the Abt nieces and nephews Colleen, Carol, Florrie, Lynn, Wayne, Michael, and Laurie; his step-daughters Donna Wilson and Julia Carter; many cousins; and long-time friend Dorothy Houghton.
Due to the current restrictions on public gatherings, a private family Funeral Service was held at 2 pm on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at the Ponoka Funeral Home.
