Wayne Andrew Dougherty of Vulcan, AB passed away peacefully early on Sunday, August 13, 2017 in the Strathmore Hospital at the age of 81. Wayne was born to Andy and Lily Dougherty October 29, 1935 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Wayne joined the Navy and traveled the world.

While in Victoria, BC he met his future wife Betty McGinnis.

The two got married July 8, 1960. They ended up in Grande Prairie where their children Drew and Erin where both born. In 1977, after years in the automotive parts business, the family moved to Ponoka, AB to open Waynes Auto.

Wayne and Betty both retired in 1998. Wayne was always quick with a joke and a smile. He was an avid golfer and President of PCGC. Lots of fond memories of days in the back yard pool with family, friends and neighbours.

The Legion was always the go to place for Wayne and his associates. In 2003 he and Betty moved to Vulcan. Betty unfortunately passed away shortly after the move. Wayne suffered with some health issues following a stroke and spent his last few years in the Extendicare Facility in Vulcan. He was forever blowing kisses to the staff. He enjoyed weekly outings with daughter Erin and always looked forward to trips to the Lethbridge Casino.

He is survived by his son Drew (Shirley) Dougherty and their sons Dugan and Tucker; daughter Erin (Doug) Paulgaard and their children Shannon, Holly and Darren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by both his parents and sister Charlotte.
