William “Bill” Mandeville

William “Bill” James Mandeville was born June 15, 1920. He passed away peacefully on March 21, 2010 at the Northcott Care Centre in Ponoka. Bill will be greatly missed by his loving wife Myrtle. He is survived by his son Thomas (Debbie) and family of Australia; step-son Gerald Grant (Averil) and son ofEdmonton; and step-daughter Sharon Morrow (Roger) and family of Wetaskiwin. Also surviving are his brother Fred Mandeville and family of Brooks; sister Dixie Lockhart of Lethbridge; and sisters-in-law Pearl Mandeville and family of Lethbridge and Jeanine Mandeville of Brooks. William was predeceased by his father and mother Tom and Lucy; his sister Marianne; and his brother Harold. Bill spent his early years farming in southern Alberta. Later years, he and his wife Myrtle moved to British Columbia, settling in the Salmon Arm area. Bill was employed as a service engineer, working on the Mica Creek and Revelstoke dams; later working in the Rogers Pass on a large tunnel. In his spare time he loved to fly, achieving his private pilot license. He was very active in community activities and sports. After 40 years, Bill and his wife returned to Alberta settling in Ponoka. A private family service will be held to celebrate Bill’s life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations are gratefully accepted to any charity of your choice.
