In Loving Memory ~
William Everett Linnen was born January 25, 1938, in Wadena, Saskatchewan and passed away suddenly on February 8, 2022, in Ponoka, Alberta.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Marion Joan Orobko Linnen and his brother Clifford Linnen.
He is survived by his son, Lyndsey Todd Linnen (Chris Lewis); his sisters Evelyn Linnen Lund (Arnie, deceased), Rose Linnen Ruston (George, deceased) and Eileen Linnen Wilson (Trevor); as well as an extended family of nieces and nephews and a large circle of dear friends who were his chosen family.
Everett was a self-made business owner, whose company specialized in the construction of large infrastructure projects. In 1963, he met Joan and against the wishes of her parents, stole her away. In 1966, Lyndsey was born. The family relocated to Ponoka in 1969 and in the 1970's, Everett started his construction business.
An obsession with cars led to a never-ending parade of vehicles on 59th Avenue, leading to many eyerolls on Joan's part. She would say, "Everett, when are you ever going to find the time to DRIVE all of these cars?!"
Everett lived a full and blessed life and was always read to regale his friends and family with stories of the many adventures that he had had over his 84 years.
Private services for family will be held Friday, February 18, 2022, at the Ponoka Funeral Home at 1 pm followed by an open graveside service at 2:30 pm at Forest Home Cemetery.
A memorial service will be held later in the Spring, once large gatherings are permitted, and people will be freely able to participate in a celebration of Everett's life. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that any donations be made to Watson's Wishes Foundation.
Tax-deductible donations made through Watson's Wishes will be directed to not-for-profit animal rescue organizations and animal shelters in Canada. This will help assure these organizations have access to sustainable funding that can be used towards everything from veterinary care and medical assistance, spay and neuter programs, food, toys, and operating costs https://rjcfoundation.akaraisin.com/ui/WatsonsWishes/donations/start
