DEN OUDSTEN
Wilma DenOudsten passed away suddenly on July 16,
2011 at the age of 53. Wilma was born on August 15, 1957
in Didsbury, Alberta and lived in the Calgary area until the
family moved to Lacombe in 1967. She attended school in
Crestomere, Ponoka Composite, Camrose Lutheran College
and she graduated from the Western College of Veterinary
Medicine in 1981 as a veterinarian. She began her career
at the Ponoka Vet Clinic and in 1988 opened her own
veterinary practice, Crestomere Veterinary Services. Being
a vet was more than a job, it was her passion and she
cared very much for the animals she treated. Wilma lived
a full life, she worked hard, she played hard, she was very
involved in her church, her community and she cared deeply for her friends and family,
especially her nephews and nieces. She left us far too soon but we are comforted that
she is with her Lord and Savior in heaven. Wilma is survived by her siblings and their
families: Case and Rosalie (Karen and Henk, Paul and Mark), Nick and Veronica (Nahani,
Aaron, Kescia and Logan), Peter and Emma (George and Richarla, Sharon and Joel,
Philip and Ashley and Miriam), Marlene and John Ekkel (Jeff and Cindy [Braeden], Dustin
and Cheryl [Ryder], Kayla and Trevor), and Dean and Tracy (Caden, Dakota and Kenydi).
She was predeceased by her mother Mary in 2006, her father Jake in 2009, a niece,
Helen, and her sister-in-law, Edith. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 22, 2011
at 1:00 p.m. at College Heights SDA Church, 6915 Maple Drive, Lacombe with interment
to follow at Woodynook Cemetery. Family and friends wishing to pay their respects may
do so on Thursday, July 21 at 7:00 p.m. Friends may make memorial contributions to the
Heart & Stroke Foundation, 202, 5913-50 Ave, Red Deer, AB T4N 4C4. Condolences
may be made through www.wilsonsfuneralchapel.ca.
