Withold (Wiff) Kroening
Withold Kroening (Wiff), beloved husband of Sadie Kroening, passed away on February 25, 2012 at the age of 92. Besides his loving wife Sadie, Wiff is survived by his children Bunny (Terry) Griffiths of Olds, Gerry Kroening of Red Deer, Marlynn (Craig) Kennedy of Calgary and Gord (Sandy) Rentz of Saudi Arabia; as well as 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers Ted and Bob, both of Ponoka and his sisters June Whitman of Ponoka, Venie Coote of Calgary, Vivian Sileck of Vancouver and Addie Vernon of Washington. He was predeceased by 10 brothers and sisters: Hertha Kruger, Joe Kroening, Olga Walther, Rita Cronander, Emma Robinson, Ozzy Kroening, Lydia Smith, Ernie Kroening, Ben Kroening and Lillian Phillips. Wiff was born on May 22, 1919 in Bruderheim, Alberta. He came to live in Ponoka in 1930 and has lived here for over 80 years. He worked as a carpenter in and around the area and has built houses, barns, sheds and many many renovations. In his retirement he enjoyed golfing with his brother Ted every morning 5 days a week. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching hockey and football, and most of all he enjoyed his family and many many friends. The family would like to thank the staff at the Ponoka Hospital and Care Centre for the care given to Wiff. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 2, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Ponoka United Church.
