September 21, 1936 - June 23, 2018
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Yvonne Joan Ganson on June 23, 2018. Her tireless spirit gave her strength and courage, but cancer took her life, and she passed with her family by her side.

Yvonne will be lovingly remembered by her husband Bert; son Brian (Lesli) and grandchildren Sydney (Tanner) and Austin; daughter Joan (Randy) Svederus and grandchildren Sara (Andy) and Matthew; brother Ross (Darlene) Crawford; sisters-in-law Irene Crawford and Vivian Crawford; brothers-in-law Lorne (Audrey) Ganson, Don (Carole) Ganson, Reo (Leona) Ganson, and Leo (Gloria) Ganson; as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Yvonne was predeceased by her parents Jim and Mayme Crawford; father-in-law and mother-in-law Herman and Lillian Ganson; her brother Dale; and sisters-in-law Donna and Sandra.

Yvonne was born in Hanna, Alberta the first born to Jim and Mayme Crawford, where she was raised on a farm close to Byemoor, Alberta. In 1945 the Crawford family purchased a farm in the Fairview District north of Lacombe.

It was here where Yvonne completed her schooling and began working for an insurance agency, and it was also here where she met the love of her life, Bert Ganson. They were married on the frosty evening of November 12, 1960. Yvonne joined Bert at Reid Island, BC. Their home overlooked Evans Bay and the two of them made wonderful friendships while Bert logged, and Yvonne cooked for the loggers.

After three years, they returned to Alberta; Yvonne was happiest on the farm and near her family. She and Bert raised their two children, Brian and Joan, on their Lacombe farm, surrounded by a bountiful garden, picturesque crop land, and livestock. She shared herself with the community through involvement in the Fairview UCW, Lacombe Curling Club, Central Alberta 4-H and Lighthorse.

Yvonne was known for her thoughtful nature, reaching out to those in need by providing gifts of food and lending a helping hand. She loved her family and friends deeply, staying connected, hosting elaborate meals, and always having the kettle on for tea.

A celebration of Yvonne's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 13, 2018 at College Height Seventh-Day Adventist Church. A time for fellowship will follow in the College Heights Christian School Gym.

Memorial donations are gratefully accepted to the Central Alberta Cancer Centre or the Lacombe Hospital and Care Centre (Palliative Care).
