Expressing gratitude during the month of October

“O give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever.” — 1 Chronicles 16:34

There was much to be grateful for during the month of October as we celebrated Thanksgiving, recognized World Teachers’ Day, and made our way through the second month of a new school year that, thankfully, is taking place in-person and as normal.

We are thankful for opportunities to gather with friends and families to share conversation, laughter, or a delicious meal. We are grateful to those who produce the food we eat, and we pray for those less fortunate who face struggles we do not experience. We are grateful beyond words for the incredible teachers employed by STAR Catholic, and for those across the globe. We also pray for the many children in the world who do not have the opportunity to learn in a safe and caring school under the guidance of a passionate teacher.

We are thankful for the gift of publicly funded Catholic education, and we pray for those in other provinces who do not enjoy the same privilege. We are grateful for the families — including non-Catholic families — who choose our schools for the values our students learn including love, compassion, and the importance of giving back to those in need.

We are blessed with supportive partnerships in our parishes, in our communities, with our families, and with sister school divisions. The work we do every day would not be possible without these collaborative and friendly relationships.

For these blessings and more, we give thanks to God. May you take the time every day to give Him thanks for your blessings as well.
