It is not yet time to repeal business hours bylaw

Mr. Bonnett may be correct in stating that legislation from the Alberta Government would be better than individual

Dear Editor,

Mr. Bonnett may be correct in stating that legislation from the Alberta Government would be better than individual communities restricting liquor sales. Since this doesn’t yet exist, the business hours bylaw should not be repealed without a proven alternate strategy to reduce drunk driving in Ponoka, which the conduct bylaw will not do.

The bylaw may not affect those who choose to drive under the influence if they can simply drive to another town, but reducing drunk driving in Ponoka does improve the safety of those who live there.

The council needs to remember that safety of families is more important than late night liquor sales.

Sincerely,

Graham Boyes
