Dear Editor,

I’d like to thank the Ponoka News for the opportunity you provide for opinions and ideas to be expressed.

In addition to the news and community interest stories, I appreciate that there are weekly opinion pieces and letters to the editor.

As a minister, I’m privileged to be able to occasionally contribute to one of those, the religion column, and, of late, a letter to the editor or two.

I appreciate that I can express my view. Equally, I appreciate the views of my colleagues in ministry.

We don’t agree on some things, but I respect and admire their work in our community and I enjoy hearing what they have to say. It’s kind of exciting that our town has the diversity of views and variety of faith communities that we have. People will find their way to where they feel they belong.

I also think it’s important to remember that variety exists because we each have our own view. I express my own thoughts and beliefs. I may, on occasion, speak on behalf of my congregation or denomination. But that’s all I can do and I can’t speak for everyone. I hope that the Spirit inspires me to speak what is true, in my own way. I think we all do.

Sincerely,

Rev. Robin King
