Dear editor:

Is it important to keep your word? The Alberta government has broken their agreement with physicians, eroding trust with any future negotiations. I know rural family doctors, as well as medical residents (future doctors) who now plan to leave Alberta to work in other provinces where contracts are honoured. The changes Jason Kenney is making it harder to attract and keep doctors working Alberta’s rural communities.

Have you ever been sick? If you need to see a doctor, Mr. Kenney’s cuts make it so medical issues are inefficiently spread out over shorter appointments on multiple days. This form of “10-Minute Medicine” actually ends up costing more taxpayer dollars!

The brunt of these changes will be felt by the elderly, people with multiple medical conditions, and those living in rural areas.
