These are trying times for everyone. Over the past week, the town has heard from residents both in support and opposed to the new provincial health restrictions that we have implemented at our indoor recreation facilities.

Council and Administration have heard your concerns. We have been working and continue to work toward a better solution. Please be patient. We are also asking you to please be kind and respectful with each other, and with Town staff.

It has come to my attention that members of town staff have been getting verbally abused and harassed both inside and outside the workplace, including on social media. Please stop. Like everyone else in our community, our staff deserve to be treated with kindness and respect.

There will come a day when this situation is behind us. Until then, we all need to carry ourselves with the dignity and compassion we have always had for one another.

Thank you,

Mayor Kevin Ferguson,

Town of Ponoka
