Recycling actions dishonest

The article on glass recycling in the Sept. 4 issue left the question of what is done with the paper and plastic materials unanswered.

Dear Editor:

The article on glass recycling in the Sept. 4 issue left the question of what is done with the paper and plastic materials unanswered. I have not received any response to my queries about this from the Town of Ponoka either.

I am disillusioned by the revelation the glass and corrugated cardboard gathered at the recycling depot is not recycled.

I do not understand the fraudulent, dishonest and wasteful actions of the town continuing the illusion of running the recycling depot and then taking these materials to the landfill. I would hope for a local government that is transparent, accountable and interested in stewardship for future generations.

Furthermore, this deceit has undermined the good intentions of the Rising Sun Clubhouse, which is not being supported by the Town of Ponoka in fulfilling their mandate to provide recycling pickup.
