As we near the end of summer and approach the school year, we are also growing closer to the upcoming civic elections during which individuals will be elected to serve on STAR Catholic School Division’s Board of Trustees. Election Day is October 18, 2021.

STAR Catholic School Division is a faith-filled organization composed of committed staff who take pride in providing an excellent standard of education to our diverse student populations. The Board of Trustees is made up of seven individuals from six communities: Beaumont, Drayton Valley, Lacombe, Leduc, and Wetaskiwin. Together, the board provides strategic direction and governance to the division as a whole.

Trustees are dedicated advocates for the division who are passionate about Catholic education. As elected officials, trustees work hard to ensure the needs of the communities they serve are met. This includes lobbying all levels of government and engaging with stakeholders, including students, staff, families, and parishioners, to understand the concerns and priorities of the division.

Nomination Day is Sept. 20, 2021. On Nomination Day, nomination papers will be accepted from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. — not before or after that time. Nomination papers can be dropped off at your local STAR Catholic school in all communities except Leduc and Beaumont. For Leduc and Beaumont, nomination papers will be accepted at STAR Catholic’s central office. Prior to Nomination Day, nomination papers may be dropped off at the central office during regular business hours.

Anyone who is passionate about Catholic education and feels a calling to become a Catholic school trustee can visit starcatholic.ab.ca/division/election-information to learn more, get their nomination forms, and download a candidate package.
