Ponoka Piston Poppers’ Seniors’ Week Parade enjoyed by all

The Ponoka Piston Poppers car club held their annual parade to various seniors’ lodges and the Centennial Centre for Mental Health and Brain Injury on June 9.

Eighteen cars showed up for the event and were well received by residents and townsfolk alike. The parade wended its way back and forth through lots of residential and downtown streets, stopping here and there for people to get a better look and have a bit of a visit with the participants.

The Piston Poppers are always happy to share information about club happenings and most especially about their cars and how they came about.

After the parade the Piston Poppers parked at Hammy’s and were treated to strawberry shortcake at the Ponoka Drop-in Centre nearby. We got to have cake, coffee and camaraderie with fellow car enthusiasts and show off a bit more.

Some of the cars are older and made for some nostalgia amongst the viewers. Some are newer and have some interesting modifications. All have meaning to the owners and they are happy to share them with the public. Look and ask but please don’t touch without permission.

Once the showing off was done the crew headed out to a member’s acreage for a barbeque and picnic before heading back to home garages.
