VIDEO: Opening night of ‘Elf! The Musical’

Ponoka Community Theatre presents Elf - The Musical

Elf — The Musical, a Ponoka Community Theatre Production presented by KFA and Ponoka United Church, had their opening night on Nov. 25.

It was KFA’s first show since December, 2019. Though there were perhaps some opening night jitters, the cast pushed through and gave a delightful performance to an appreciative, almost full crowd.

Elf — The Musical, based on the New Line Cinema film, tells the story of Buddy, a human raised in the north pole, who travels to New York to meet his birth father upon learning he is not, in fact, an oversized elf that’s just bad at making toys.

The show features lively action, whimsical song and dance numbers, and is aided throughout by clever set changes.

The show stars Todd Lewis as Buddy, Jula Lewis as Jovie, Perry Wilson as Santa and David Luce as Walter Hobbs along with various support roles and an ensemble cast.

KFA board chair Robin King said some of the cast were veteran members of the group, while for others, it was their first show.

The remaining shows are on Dec. 2, 3 and 4, at Ponoka United Church.

The Dec. 4 show starts at 2 p.m. and the rest are at 7 p.m.

Elf — The Musical is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International.
