Earlier this month, the Town of Ponoka expanded the Aquaplex’s pool schedule, for the second phase of its reopening process following the facility shutdown earlier this year due to COVID-19.
The expanded schedule includes extended hours, more family swim time, private and semi-private swimming lessons, water fitness and Zumba classes as well as continued access to lane swimming and the wading pool.
Water fitness and Zumba classes will have a limit of 10 participants at a time.
Occupancy limits will remain in place for the pools and deck, including one-way traffic measures for the lobby and pool deck, and users are asked to limit their visits to no more than three per week.
Access to change rooms remains limited. Guests are required to come dressed for swimming and arrive no more than five minutes before their scheduled times.
A copy of the Aquaplex schedule is available on the Town website at www.ponoka.ca, or phone the pool for more information at 403-783-0131.
Anyone wishing to swim or use the wading pool must first phone the pool to register at 403-783-0131.
Swimming lessons began on Aug. 10
The climbing wall, rope, diving board and pool toys remain unavailable. Patrons may bring their own equipment, provided that it is clean and disinfected.
The sauna and hot tub will remain closed until Stage III of the Provincial Relaunch Plan.
Aquaplex staff will guide visitors through the new safety measures at the facility.
